1st photo: age 9, happy enjoying life nestled in the safe cocoon that is childhood. My life was pretty much perfect. I loved school, my family and friends. One day the school weigh me. We receive a letter home a week later stating I am overweight and something needs to be done. Surely a child’s happiness comes before society’s desire for everyone to be in a healthy weight range? Apparently not.

Photos 2 and 3: the starts of an illness that would take away so so much. I’m starting to question myself and everything I’d ever thought. ‘I will be happier when I’m skinny’ ‘I will start high school as one of the pretty girls’. No child should ever have these thoughts. I’m gradually starting to lose myself and push my loved ones away.

Photos: 3, 4, and 5 a little girl on the verge of death. Just 12 years old and consumed by an illness that is making her want to die. Skinny didn’t bring me happy it brought me anything but. I should’ve been out eating sweets and making friends, instead we have a hollow shell. I believed the only way out was to die, then the pain would stop. This is the start of my long and tiresome recovery journey. 2 weeks hospitalised, 9 months inpatient and a lot of perseverance.

Photo number 6: me now age 13 slowly rebuilding a life that an illness I never asked for took away from me. I struggle I cry but I keep going. I keep going because in my mind there is no other option. I want life, and I plan on living.

I have to admit I am angry. I am angry that I, like so many other girls, have been forced to grow up too quickly. I am angry that I got lumped with this illness. I am angry that even though the average age for eating disorder sufferers is getting younger and younger that they still choose to weigh children at primary school. I am angry that society still idolises being thing like it is the answer to all happiness. No one I repeat no one should have to suffer the ordeal that is an eating disorder. So please let’s stop shoving weight loss diets and fitness programmes into every corner of this earth where young children are so susceptible to see it. Please, let little girls be little girls.

Pretty sure this is my most favourite post of mine :)

“A palpable distaste for women seeped between the cracks of the conference, in comical asides and throwaway comments. When the conference’s MC, Robert O’Hara, asked a woman in the audience a question and she responded with a no, he quickly shot back “Doesn’t no mean yes?” The audience burst into laughter.”

What I Learned as a Woman at a Men’s Rights Conference, Jessica Roy

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: men’s rights activists aren’t pro-men, they’re anti-women. They’re sexist and disgusting and I would be surprised if most of them were not sexual predators.

Kacy Catanzaro: the first woman in history to qualify for Mt. Midoriyama.

I was telling some of my students last night (especially the ones somehow even smaller than I am, including two very badass ladies) to look this performance up cuz it is legit inspiring.

There were like FOUR places where her height required her to JUMP when taller competitors could REACH. So cool.

I just watched this last night, and she is incredible. 5’ tall, 100# flat and she beasts through the course even making it up the ramp in one run. She’s positively epic. Makes me want to look into freerunning clubs around here.

She is literally one of my favorite people and a huge inspiration to me. She might be a heck of a lot shorter than me (literally 10 inches shorter), but to do what she can takes some serious strength and endurance. I can’t do half of what she does today, but one day I will.

This is badass!!!!

Someone finally made it!

She is/was a beast!!!!

Nicholas Lord, a Navy sailor since 2008 currently on active duty, is under investigation after threatening to rape a young woman who is a Navy recruit.
The young woman posted a photo of herself on Facebook, captioning it to say she’s proud of how she’s working hard to get in shape for the Navy, and she’s excited to be leaving soon. The photo was shared on the page for her Delayed Entry Program for her fellow Navy recruits.
Nicholas Lord, who is not a current recruit and who has been serving in the Navy since 2008, then commented:
You’ll end up pregnant real soon you fucking wh***. If I could and I knew you, I’d hold you down and rape you.
The next day, Lord gloated about his threat on his Facebook page, updating his status to say he’d been “trolling feminist pages.” In case it needs to be said, the Facebook page for a Navy program is not a “feminist page.” It’s a Navy recruiting page. (x) (x)
I don’t know what the Navy’s punishment system is like, but I hope he gets the worst possible. I hope they investigate his past history in the military, too. If he’s bold enough to outright threaten female recruits, under his own name, on public, Navy-run social media, I seriously doubt he hasn’t harassed and threatened female sailors. He may even have raped them.
Especially given the military’s problem with letting men get away with harassment and rape, they need to severely punish him.

Send it viral, and he will see ramifications.

If you only reblog one thing today I hope it’s this.

Bold enough to not only to post such things attached to his real name, but to brag about it proudly in public. He’s confident that no one will hold him responsible for threatening to violate another human being.Prove him wrong, Navy. Service members are supposed to be held to a higher standard. Don’t let this misogynistic troll be another black mark against the armed forces’ track record for dealing with sexual violence among your own. Prove. Him. Wrong.

TYPICAL YOUTUBER WHITE BOYS SPEAKING THE ACTUAL TRUTH AND NOT BEING DICKS AND WOW WHAT IS THIS I HAD TO WATCH IT TWICE TO MAKE SURE I WASN’T IMAGINING THINGS WOW

Man, I was worried that they were going to take this in a bad direction, but their single biggest point was something that they kinda concluded towards the end of the video, like they didn’t plan on actually saying this one line: “Really nice guys don’t call themselves Nice Guys.” Wonderful.
